Did you know?

86% of parents feel their teen spends too much time gaming

The average age of smartphone ownership is 10 years old & the average age of exposure to hardcore pornography is 11 years old

1 in 4 parents say their teen knows someone with depression & 1 in 10 know a peer who’s committed suicide

Most kids spend an average of 10 hours a day on their screens & 4 out of 5 tweens are on social media before age 12

For better or worse, social media is now a critical element of healthy teen socialization

Why this online certification course?

Kids spend more time in virtual neighborhoods without supervision than real-life neighborhoods with supervision

The manipulative design of screens captures attention. Bad actors online are expert at exploiting that.

“Digital injury” refers to harm resulting from screen use. Most parents are shocked to learn where injury potential lurks online

It’s a rare child who avoids digital injury without advanced education, monitoring, and support. School curriculums are too often “watered down” and don’t contain the frank messaging that kids understand.

Dr. Bennett’s course trains paraprofessional and professionals like mental and behavioral health professionals, school psychologists, counselors, teachers, youth leaders, and community leaders, among other, to teach the red flags of digital injury and create effective family screen safety plans. Dr. B did the research for her best-selling book Screen Time in the Mean Time, teaches at California State University, and has been working with families in her clinical practice for over 25 years.

Our GKIS Screen Safety Certification Training Course offers best practices from the psychological research and creative, real-world clinical secrets from Dr. B’s practice with the most challenging kids and teens.

Our training is right for you if your youth or families...

Don't feel confident preparing their kids for gaming, social media, or internet use

Worry about child access to porn, predators, conspiracy theories, and cyberbullies

Are burned out on being the bad guys and want their kids to gain sound judgment and honest accountability

Are not sure what the risks of digital injury are and want to earn child respect when it comes to online expertise

Would like to facilitate screen safety and close family connection with an outcome-tested framework

Dr. Bennett recognizes that a screen-free life or 100% virtual monitoring isn’t realistic, and kids can’t make sound decisions without learning how to recognize risk and control impulse. Plus, parents can’t do all of the work without jeopardizing a positive parent-child relationship.

Best screen practices must be taught, supervised, and managed – gradually with sensible flexibility and with family values in-mind. GKIS Screen Safety Certification Training offers your youth and families the opportunity to start taking accountability for themselves, proactive instead of reactive

With our proven training, your families won’t even realize the nightmares they’ll be avoiding. With your guidance, they’ll better know how to respond to distressing online situations. Plus they’ll gain more independent resilience, and you’ll be more likely to attract 5-star reviews along the way! Dr. B believes that by teaching kids good coping skills on the front end, you can avoid costly psychotherapy sessions on the back end.

Isn’t that what we really want ?

Helping our families achieve harmony and safety on- and off-line.
Connecting! Not disconnecting.

One can’t unsee what has already been seen. By advertising that you are GetKidsInternetSafe Certified, your youth and families will know to come to you for help, recognizing that they are not alone in facing risk online.
